After many sleepless nights &amp; frankly, not enough of the good bits from &#8216;Mad Men&#8217;, she left the industry to focus on the community &amp; public media sectors, where she worked in print, broadcast &amp; online, &amp; as an artist and workshop facilitator.<\/p>\n<p>In late 2008, inspired by the democratisation of media &amp; rise of independent journalism,\u00a0 she established &#8216;Radio Lajee&#8217;, an English-language media project for young Palestinian refugees living in the occupied West Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Daz is also on the board of the Sydney-based Refugee Art Project and her short film, &#8216;Unstill Lives&#8217; documents RAP&#8217;s engagement with Australia&#8217;s refugee and asylum seeker community.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, she\u2019s been spending most of her time directing a feature-length documentary film called, &#8216;Amand(l)a&#8217;, which follows the life of a politically motivated young woman born the year of the so-called Oslo Peace Process, inside the occupied West Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Daz\u2019s main interest lies in work that challenges preconceived sociocultural &amp; political notions &amp; ideas, &amp; creates instances of social engagement, or points of connection between unlikely parties.<\/p>\n<p>Her work has been screened at international film festivals and shown at galleries in Australia, the US, Palestine and Turkey.<\/p>\n<p>This blog has been set-up primarily as a space for friends and interested strangers to keep in touch with her while she&#8217;s\u00a0 away &#8216;on da west side&#8217;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Daz Chandler is a karaoke enthusiast with great hands who loves hyphenating words.
